Hello everyone and greetings from Cornwall!!
I recently discovered CAHS through family history contacts in the US and Tom Rusch has kindly asked me to join CAHS as a 'friend' seeing that I hail from Penzance, Cornwall. I am delighted to be able to post on your fascinating website and find out about the Cornish Heritage communities and people in the US.
The reason for posting is because my mother, Muriel Laity has recently re-published on Amazon a book about the villages of Crowlas and Ludgvan in West Cornwall. This book may be of real interest to anyone that has family connections to Ludgvan Parish or is just interested in stories, yarns and the social history of this lovely Cornish village.
The earlier edition of the book was only available for sale as a paperback in the village itself and sold out quickly so my mother (who is now 91) wanted to now make it available to a wider audience. All proceeds from the sale will go to local charities.
The details of the book and how to get a copy are shown below:
‘Memories of a Cornish Village: Down Crowlas and Ludgvan Way’ is available on Amazon Books:
https://www.amazon.com/Memories-Cornish-Village-Crowlas-Ludgvan-ebook/dp/B0DP5HBBDY
It is $9.99 for the Paperback Edition or $2.99 for the electronic Kindle Edition (which can be easily printed if needed). The book contains a lot of social history about the people who lived in the village and also includes many fascinating old photos - many of which have not previously been published. If anyone is interested in finding out about the history of the village and details of many Ludgvan families (such as Morris, Laity, Davy, Triggs, Hosking, Reynolds etc), it would make an excellent present or research source.
We have a CAHS quarterly book club. This may be a great read for our group this year. Thank you for the recommendation!
