Greetings from New Jersey! I'm a former newspaper reporter/editor and have become an amateur genealogist in my retirement. I discovered my sweetheart's (Holly Odgers) Cornish roots on her father's side of her family tree. Holly's 2nd great-grandfather was Anthony Hosking Odgers (1837-1880), a miner who married Mary Haddy Snell (1847-1912) and moved to the U.S. in 1872. Anthony was killed in a mining accident in Hibernia, N.J. Holly mining ancestors date back to John Odgers (1788-1845), as far as I know so far. I have English ancestors, but is Holly who has Cornish roots. Still, I've been fascinated to learn about her Cornwall heritage and the miners who toiled there. I hope to meet others, here, with Cornish roots... perhaps even some cousins of Holly's!
